World Earth Day: From Ocean to Community

Each year on April 22, World Earth Day brings together over a billion people across more than 190 countries in support of environmental protection. It is a moment to reflect on our shared responsibility to protect the natural world, from reducing waste to restoring ecosystems and supporting sustainable practices.

For our team at Atlas Pearls, this connection is not abstract. It is part of our everyday.

The marine and coastal environments surrounding our farms in the Indonesian archipelago are not only where our pearls are grown, they are also vital to local communities, supporting livelihoods, food security and cultural identity. As pressures on these environments increase, our focus remains on practical, collaborative action that protects and restores the ecosystems we depend on.

On World Earth Day, we are reminded that meaningful change happens together.

A Collective Approach to Environmental Stewardship

Our work is grounded in partnership, working alongside local communities, organisationsand government groups to deliver meaningful environmental outcomes across our sites.

Beach Cleans

In collaboration with partners including Sungai Watch and local communities, we conduct regular beach clean-ups. In 2025 alone, 2454 kg of waste was removed from coastlines, helping protect marine ecosystems and maintain the natural beauty of these

Plastic Upcycling

Through partnerships with Sumpah Sampah and Get Plastik, plastic waste is transformed into practical materials at our Alyui location. Each plank created uses approximately 50 plastic bottles, turning waste into furniture and removing it from the environment.

Perfect Fit Collaboration

Working with Perfect Fit, we support the distribution of reusable sanitary pads to women and girls in our communities. Since 2023, 3464 reusable pads have been distributed to 866 women and girls, supporting health, dignity and reducing reliance on single-use products.

Mangrove Restoration

In partnership with Mangrove Arboretum Park and local communities, we are restoring vital coastal ecosystems across Bali, Java and Nusa Tenggara Timur. In 2025, 2383 mangroves were planted, helping to stabilise shorelines, support biodiversity and protect marine habitats.

Environmental Education

Through collaborations with organisations such as Thresher Shark Indonesia, we engage young people in hands-on environmental education. From eco-brick initiatives to conservation workshops, these programs aim to foster a deeper understanding of environmental care for future generations.

Coral Reef Rehabilitation

Working with Amare Divers and regional fisheries representatives, we have deployed 25 Reef Stars at our Pungu site, each supporting approximately 12 coral fragments. This ongoing work contributes to coral regeneration and the long-term resilience of reef ecosystems.

A Shared Responsibility

Environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility. At Atlas Pearls, it is something we approach with intention, through practical action, long-term partnerships and a deep respect for the environments in which we operate.

Each initiative reflects a broader commitment, not only to protect the ecosystems that sustain our pearls, but to support the communities connected to them.

On World Earth Day, we are reminded that meaningful change happens together.

With special thanks to our partners, communities and the teams on the ground who make this work possible. Thank you for choosing responsible pearls.
