Shaping Futures
IAt Atlas Pearls, sustainability is more than a business practice it’s a commitment to nurturing the communities that surround our farms. Since 2002, our scholarship program has supported students from remote villages across Indonesia, helping them access education and build brighter futures.
The ripple effects of these scholarships extend well beyond the classroom. Many recipients are the first in their families to attend university, creating new aspirations for younger siblings and relatives. As graduates return to their communities, they bring back skills, knowledge, and networks that contribute to local development whether by becoming teachers, healthcare providers, entrepreneurs, or community leaders.
For Atlas Pearls, a scholarship program isn’t about helping one student it’s an investment in inclusive growth. By targeting underserved regions, reducing financial stress, and empowering recipients with both funds and belief, the program supports the broader goal of strengthening communities, where opportunities for education translate into stronger, more sustainable futures for families and villages.
As the new school year begins, we’re proud to have awarded 37 new students with scholarships, taking the total number of current active scholarship students up to 243.
To mark this moment, we’re sharing the inspiring journeys of three students whose lives have been transformed through the program.
Empowering Education:
Yusak’s Journey bringing passion for education to his village.
Growing up in a remote village with limited access to quality education, Yusak Lapon’Ayello witnessed the challenges faced by local children under-resourced schools, a shortage of trained teachers, and few opportunities for learning. These experiences sparked a deep passion for education and a desire to make a difference.
With the support of an Atlas Pearls scholarship, Yusak pursued a university degree in language education. After graduating, he returned to his village with a mission: to uplift the local education system. He began by organizing teacher training workshops and led a community initiative to renovate the village school. Today, Yusak continues to serve as both a teacher and a leader in curriculum development, inspiring a new generation to pursue higher education.
Opening Doors:
Intan and Febri’s Path to Education and Opportunity
In Bali, two more scholarship recipients are making inspiring strides in their education journeys.
Kadek Intan Puspita Sari, from Patas Village, has been part of the program since 2015. After excelling in high school, she was accepted into Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in Buleleng, supported by both Atlas Pearls and a government scholarship. Intan dreams of becoming a teacher, a role she sees as essential to empowering her community.
Komang Febri Ariandana, from Sanggalangit Village, also joined the program in 2015. After completing high school, he chose to pursue vocational training at LPK Klungkung, with the goal of securing future employment in Japan a path that reflects his ambition and global outlook.
Their stories highlight the broader impact of the Atlas Pearls scholarship program: not only helping students complete their education, but also opening doors to higher learning, career development, and brighter futures.
These stories are just a few examples of how access to education can transform lives.
